When you are an adventurous mom and you
love the backcountry but you just do not
want to cook anymore!!

That’s right, I said it. I am over cooking. All I want to do is have a nice vacation. But I still need that adventure. That disconnection from this busy life I run. So image my excitement when Engadine Lodge came out with there “glamping” tents. Decked out (literally you get a beautiful balcony over looking the valley) tents, equipped with a king sized bed, pull out couch, natural gas fire place, private bathroom all nestled in the heart of the rockies!

We had such an amazing time at the lodge. We arrived late on Friday night and the friendly staff were nothing but accommodating. They had warm dinners for us including a healthy “kids plate” for Sophie. We were tired and hungry and the process couldn’t have been easier on us. We quickly got our keys and unloaded our stuff into our cozy warm tent and settled in for the night.

You can tell right away that the lodge has hospitality as its top priority as soon as we walked into our tent, the fire was going, cold fresh waters on the table, slippers, ear plugs and extra blankets awaited us. It didn’t take us long to get settled. The amazing food, filled our bellies topped with a delicious desert is just what these stay-cationers needed!

And that it was! A fresh blanket of snow covered the lodge, the sun was shining and the 830am Waffles with mango breakfast, hot coffee, set us on track for our first walk around the lodge. Typically we would be hiking up one of the popular trails in the area…

West Winds Pass
Windtower

But we chose our stay during the shoulder season and having a 2 year old with us we decided to stick to a nice walk around the lodge and go for a snowshoe after lunch. Thankfully the lodge had a ton of shoes because we forgot ours! There are a ton of ground level trails right off the lodge property for you to enjoy without having to get into your cars. The knowledgable staff will have all the details for trails that suite your family’s needs pending the season.

We headed to the lodge after our snowshoe for a tea before dinner was served. We had our own little couch in the corner over looking the valley. Sophie managed to find the games cupboard, stacked full of every board game you can image to keep you entertained for the evening. A crackling fire and a glass of red wine is sure to make anyone enjoy there stay.

Needless to say, this is exactly the kind of stay this mama needed. Escape, relax, eat good and get some fresh air. We all need a little time to disconnect and reconnect with our families. I love camping as much as the next adventurer but being a mom, sometimes it’s nice to not have to worry about anything except having fun!
