This hike is short and sweet, although its not my favourite, and not a summit, its a great hike with some pretty good views for 3-4 hours worth of time. The trail is well defined for the most part, but there is a fork in the trail that isn’t to clear where you must head to the right or you’ll head up having to walk around the backside of the mountain to the pass. I would suggest downloading the trail map from alltrails.com just to be sure, or be prepared for all terrain if you mistake the route and end up taking the long way!
If you feel like your not out of energy yet, take the clear path up Mt. Lougheed to completed the Windtower Trail! This hike is a good summit, with some moderate scrambling. About another 2.5km straight up – but the views are worth it!
We did this hike Sept 17th and it was cold and windy, we had to take shelter in the trees for lunch, but make sure you bring a wind breaker (its not called “west wind” for no reason!). Especially if your continuing to Windtower!
This hike is dog friendly! Its actually a really good hike to bring them, with minimal rocks and lots of flat ground at the top to relax, trail is mostly dirt and vines!
Although not my favourite, I would do this hike again for someone just getting into hiking, its not very challenging and still has good view rewards! Also a good one to do solo, there was quite a bit of traffic up and down the trail!
